2012 MMDT October Challenge #2: Feature Grid 8.5 x 11

The Color of Autumn

It has been a glorious fall in NE Ohio. It has been many years since the trees have displayed so much of the vivid shades of yellow, orange and red on the back splash of greens yet unchanged. I just had to revisit a fall theme for this challenge.

Our paper grid we are featuring this month is the black 8.5 x 11 Mosaic Moments Grid. Our challenge, to do a mostly mosaic style page mounted on a 12 x 12 solid or patterned paper. Our embellishment options were to choose one or more of the following: felt, yarn, thread, twine or string.  My choices were Deep Spring Green from Colormates for my base and chose Tangerine twine from Doodlebug Design Inc. as the added element.

I have used 10 different photos, some distant landscapes to up close leaves where you can see the veins in the leaves! (the sun shinning through them really made that stand out!) I used a full Mosaic because it had a window pane feel, looking out the window at all the pretty views.  Jasmine is the font used for 'Autumn, 'the', and 'of', and Doodletype font for 'color' and the tags and tag frames, all cut with the Cricut.  Colormates and Bazill cardstocks were used for the letters and tags. They were run through the Xyron machine for a nice even coat of adhesive for the intricate pieces of the letters.  The large maple leaf was cut using the EK Success punch.

I escaped Friday morning to run around the edges of town snapping photos of every colorful spot there was. I took more photos than I knew I'd need, but I also tried varying lens lengths and settings to see what the result would be. The great thing about digital photography is the amount of photos you can take without having to develop them to see if there are any good shots, and how easy it is to delete the bad ones!

In both of the next two close-up photos are a look at a photo cropped to fit a panoramic vista one using a section of a photo scaled to print on a portion of  8.5 x  11 photo paper and trimmed to fit the area I wanted to feature it in and another, the other on a 4 x 6 photo paper.

Thanks for stopping by for a look. I hope you've been looking at all the  new people sharing on Journella lately, and commenting. Many are hoping to be selected to be a part of the 2013 Design Team. The deadline for submitting your layouts is fast approaching...the end of October...the 31st to be exact! There are names I see regularly showing up on Tami's blog or in comments on Journella...that I haven't seen share anything in a while...names I thought for sure would be trying out for the Design Team. Come on...give it a try...you know you want to!

Anyway, the year continues to wind down, and soon my favorite season will come to an end...isn't it great to be able to preserve those memories? If you haven't tried the Mosaic Moments Grid System yet, now is the time. With the featured 8.5 x 11 grid, it's a perfect way to try the new and keep the old! Thanks so much for stopping in...

This has been an especially beautiful fall in the Hudson Valley also. Your color palette shows off your photos perfectly but I especially love how you designed the title. The tags with twine bows are great!

The title is absolutely perfect--looks so professional. Of course, the colors are great!

I love your color palette. It is so warm and rich. Wonderful work melding your photos together and I really like your tags!

Ditto what Nancy said - Somehow I never seem to be able to get enough of fall pages! The tag title is a lovely addition - love the colors and the bakers twine tied to each tag.

Absolutely beautiful. I don't think there's anything as beautiful as fall leaves. I love the use of the little tags for the title...
