Spring MMDT #7

MMDT Challenge #7 Spring

The required grid paper was Bahama Blue. Page pattern was my choice and I chose pattern #49. I made a two-page layout inverting the page pattern.

Two-page layout

Techniques Used:

Embossing the letters SPRING. I used my upper case letter stamps to form the letters of my title above and then embossed them in spring colors.

Stickers

Vellum butterflies chalked

Chalk palette and white butterfly technique

Recollections Signature Dimensional Stickers

I used Curlz MT font in a dark blue

My inspiration for this layout was a calendar I have hanging in my office. Each month highlights a Zen photo. The photographer uses flowers and props like water, rocks, bamboo, sand, etc. I wanted to use flowers as my main photos. Then I decided to combine them with Easter. The photos I took of my flowers are done with the tulips lying on their side on top of rocks that I sprayed water on. The same technique was used for the Gerber Daisies. I used various shades of blue as mats and paper tiles.

I dyed Easter eggs and put them in a neutral box instead of an Easter Basket. I purchased miniature fencing at my craft store and a square box 2 inches high. I glued the fence onto the box. The eggs were dyed in soft tones of blue, yellow, green and orange. I used thin ribbon with very tiny dots and made bows to put on some of the eggs. Rafia was used for the filler in the box. A sure image of spring.

For once the "Blues" are cheerful! The Bahama Blue Grid is a great backdrop for the pretty pastel flowers and eggs (love those bows!) Staging the tulips on rocks and misting them down was a nice idea...using inspiration from the calendar, making it your own! Vellum butterflies are perfect for a spring page, the chalk enhancement brings a nice touch of color!

I love, love, love everything about this layout. I love the colors, the flowers, and the 3-D butterflies. After a long, cold winter, this exudes the hope of Spring. Love it!

Very nice! Love the flowers and on the wet rocks, they look really great. Great use of the stickers and tiles, as well as the embossed letters for your title. :)
