Red, White & Blue

When I read about this patriotic challenge, I immediately thought back to the Girl Scout show that took place in 2002. The country was very focused on the tragedy of 9/11 and our local chapter of girls scouts organized it's yearly show around the theme, God Bless America. Every troop performed a patriotic song and all the troops got together at the end to sing Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA. Flags were waving and the auditorium was filled with red, white and blue. It was a touching moment for all who were there and we were so proud of our girls!

I didn't have many pictures of this event so I could only use those in my stash. Luckily I mentioned the challenge to a friend and she game me the beaded flag embellishment. Somewhere in that sea of girls is my then 9 year old daughter. I can't believe 10 years has passed since that tragic event. My daughter is now 19 and will be a college sophomore!

Beautiful tribute. I really like the beaded flag that your friend provided for you. To me that symbolizes how people pull together in times of need, no matter how big or small.

What an awesome moment for those girls. I'm sure it made a big impression on them. Love your layout. Great job!

It is a beautiful, patriotic layout. I read the journaling, including all of the words to the song. By the end, I had a tear too. We have three Girl Scouts, and I hope they all grow up to be patriotic. Wish we could always be as unified as a country as we were after the terrible tragedy of 9/11. The embellishments are beautiful, and I especially like the lower right where you used the 2 x 2 squares.

Great "crowd" images - love the 2x2 square area.

A nice collection of embellishments that round out your page. I remember those seed bead flags! I love that you used the Lee Greenwood song that was a part of the program. Seeing the sea of happy, proud girls waving flags is so very heartwarming. My how quickly time has past. A wonderful event to scrap for you and your daughter!
