Ready for Retirement?

When I saw the page pattern for this month I started thinking about all the things I could list: wishes, accomplishments, goals, things I like or don't like. I decided to write about goals and decided since retirement is on my mind a lot lately, that I would write about my goals for retirement.

I don't really have any pictures suited to this subject, so I decided to make a collage using pictures of books about retirement.  Did you know there's actually a book titled, "Not Dead Yet!"?  Kind of makes you want to pick that one up just to see what it says!

We were also to choose for our layout, patterned paper, brads, buttons, or a Mosaic Moments free download.  I decided to use brads as bullet points for my goals.

I finished up with the quote to remind myself that although the final goal is daunting, I'm making progress as long as I take one step at a time.

Here is what the journaling says:
There is so much to be done to get ready for retirement and we are SO not there!  I did not start saving when I should have and the stock market has been so up and down, that my 401K is not where it should be. My company just announced that they are dropping the subsidy on health insurance for retirees, so now I’m going to need more money than before. We’ve accumulated so much stuff over the years – we need to have a giant yard sale! We want to move down South to be nearer the kids and grandkids, but there are a lot of things we need to do to get there – like get enough money to move and selling our current home. It’s really overwhelming at times. I just have to remember to take it one step at a time. One step closer is better than letting the enormity of the job stall me!

I somehow missed this one when you submitted it. It looks great, and I love what you shared in your journaling. I had the same doubts when I retired two years ago, but it has all worked out so far, and I LOVE IT! Now last week, my husband retired, so we have some more interesting bridges to cross. After 49 years of marriage, I hope there is no such thing as too much togetherness. We are very optimistic!

This is great, both in subject matter and composition. This is definitely scrapliftable.

I retired a few years ago. Wish I had done something like this. What a cool idea.

Nancy, awesome layout! I can really relate and empathasize - I am in the same boat as you. My list looks real similar to yours and working on them with baby steps. It's truely overwhelming at times. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Wow - I'm impressed that you at least HAVE a list for retirement. That's the first step for me any time I plan something . . . start a list. That was a great theme for this layout concept.

Andrea, the letters are chipboard letters by Making Memories. They are called shimmer jigsaw swash pieces.

I love how every section has a border, and several with layers of color. Great inspirational quote, how appropriate for for your subject matter!! The brads are very interesting, nice to see a flower in the brad repeated in the quote block! Although you've used a collage, the whole layout has a very neat and orderly look, great job! Question: the "retirement" font..is that purchased letters or cut with a particular machine? love the "r's"

I love the "goal" theme of this page and I love the bright hopeful yellow against the gray. I also like the image of all the retirement planning books you used. Great inspiration Nancy!
