Our Little Miracle

Mason & I were over at his parents' house (not a typical day, as we live an hour away). Anyway, Mason's Uncle Bobby had a whim to drive up for a visit from Oklahoma, and so we got together for lunch, so we could spend some time with him.  Amber (Mason's younger sister) was there as well.

Amber told us about her previous day; she had gone with the sister missionaries to see a woman named Donna.  (A little side note - at this time Amber's husband Chris was in the Navy, so they lived in base housing, so in order for the missionaries to visit anyone they had to be escorted while on base by someone who lived there.) They had gone over to visit with Donna, and ended up helping her box up some baby clothes, as she wanted to give them away to someone who could use them.  Out of the blue Donna asks "Do you know anyone who wants a baby?"

Amber was a little shocked, thinking, "what a strange question," but said that yes, her brother and his wife had been trying for a baby for 7 years and hadn't been able to conceive.  Donna then told Amber about a friend of hers... who was pregnant, due to deliver any day, had know from the beginning that she wanted to give the baby up for adoption, but hadn't yet made any arrangements.

After lunch, Mason had to go to work, but Amber and I went to visit Donna to get more information.  We sat and talked with Donna while she texted questions and answers back and forth with the birth mother. Everything was sounding like it could work, so we arranged through her to meet the birth parents the next day for lunch. Well... the baby had other plans. He decided to make his grand entrance sooner rather than later. Donna called me at 10:30 pm to tell me that Birth mom's water had broken, and that the birth parents were asking for us to come and be there when our baby was born. Our little Cyrus made his entrance at 5:28 a.m.  I even was able to be the first (after the doctor) to hold him!

What a whirlwind we then entered – Heavenly Father was definitely whispering in ears, as we went through this process with no hiccups.  We were able to find an attorney who could handle all the paperwork involved (same day, and for a reasonable fee even!).  We were able to spend the time in the hospital with the birth parents, getting to know them a little bit, and letting them get to know us.  We got some medical history information.  We cried for days.  We couldn't be happier.
