The Never Ending Cleanup

Ok, how long does it have to take to clean out one little room. I have been at this for over two weeks now and it only seems to get worse. How did it get in the shape that it is. It is full of stuff accumulated from 4 years of art/design school. It is full of stuff from 4.5 years of teaching design classes at the community college and then it just seemed to become a place to stuff things that I didn't know where else to put. So now it is out of control.

Went to Target and bought some ClosetMaid Cubbies and thought that would be all the space I needed. Now it seems that I am running out of room on those shelves. I have carried off carloads of stuff to Goodwill, Habitat and Salvation Army. These places will be seeing me again because I have not finished yet.

My goal is to have a place to paint again. Dear God, please help me to become a semi-minimalist. Don't want to go cold turkey and become the M word.

Well, after being in our 4-bedroom home for almost 20 years, my husband and I just moved into a 2-bedroom apartment...fortunately, I am able to have the 2nd bedroom (actually the bigger of the two!) for my craft room...BUT - I still have boxes sitting in the middle of the room. I have also done the donate thing with ALOT of stuff; and probably will find more. My problem is that I am trying to combine pictures and stuff of ours, my parents AND my grandparents. One day, I'll get it all organized? And my problem is not knowing just HOW I want to store things...the cubbies look great; but not sure they'd work...oh, well!! Loved your piece and hope you get it all set up soon so you can get back to your painting soon!

I'm in the same situation too! I'm even running out of space for my feet at my desk because I have so much under the desk!

Can totally relate! even with things in storage, it can still be overwhelming to keep under "control".

I have been after my husband to move. Hopefully the economy will improve and we will be able to sell this house.

Good luck! I just bought some new storage for my scrap room and I think I may have made my storage problems worse by rearranging! My kids told me I need a bigger room. Maybe I will just move them to the garage and take over their bedrooms.....
