The Wonders of Venice

This was the first time Stan and I traveled abroad.  I had at this time been taking art classes at the college for several years and as you can imagine I was excited to get photos from Europe to paint.  My art professor had always taught us that to be emotionally involved in a project would make it better.  Stan was the photographer and in this picture we are in the gondola that the tip is showing.  I love the composition with the three gondolas coming to a point.  Needless to say I loved Venice, what is not to love about Venice?  As soon as I got back to art class I finished this watercolor.  My art professor worked with me constantly to keep the watercolors "loose".  This is one of my earlier pieces but still one of the most popular in sales.  It was picked to be in a "juried show" and after I got it back gave it to my oldest daughter and her husband...Paije and Tom where it now resides for me to still enjoy everytime I visit.
