MMDT #11 - Things That Make Me Smile

For project #11, the theme was "Things That Make Me Smile".

 The criteria included:

Create a page that shows us things that make you smile.

Use Mosaic Moments Raspberry Grid paper and Page Pattern # 64

 http://blog.tamipotter.com/page_patterns/2012/10/mosaic-moments-page-pattern-64-.html

Element options - please choose one or more of the following:

  • Clay
  • Ink
  • Origami

There are a lot of things that make me smile, so I made a "collage" of things!  Page two is the actual page pattern 54, with page one being the mirror image.

One of the biggest things that makes me smile right now is that Spring FINALLY arrived here in Minnesota!  I love the flowers and the critters that Spring brings.  The focal point of both my pages are flowers...the daffodils outside and the orchids inside.  The Title strip is from the "Today" Journaling Blocks FREE download, available on

http://www.snapncrop.com/, with my own added first line!

The rest of the first page includes my kitties (of course!), wine, travel, music, a good cup of hot tea, books, my whirlpool tub and bathroom, and my scrapbooking room (Yes, it's a mess right now!).

The second page is more on the nature side.  I love the critters that come into my yard!  We had three baby fox with their mom this spring...adorable!  We also have mallards, and the top photo is the female.  I love critters found in unexpected places, too!  When Joe and I went to the cemetery (for one of my previous photo shoots!), this turkey was out there!  I love this photo of him strutting with his tail feathers all spread out...yes, the female was just off to the side!  And of course my hubby (this photo is from our get-away weekend for his birthday in May...which also makes me smile!).

Now a bit regarding the element I chose:  ink.

I inked the background for the daffodil photo using a daffodil stamp from stamping up.  I used the same stamp in the one-inch squares to the left.  When doing the squares, I cut my paper into the one inch squares first,

then stamp the squares before putting them on my page.  I always cut a few extra in case of an "oops"!

I used the same technique for the travel stamps on the 1st page, only this time I stamped right onto the photo!  I had taken the photo of the airplane coming in (I live close to the MPLS/St Paul Airport!) and there was  a lot of sky with this tiny plane, so when I decided to use that to represent travel, I stamped some travel stamps right onto the photo.  I used the Craft Ink from Stampin' Up!, and it dried almost immediately.  I will try this again!  (The stamps are also from Stampin' Up!)

Here is the complete two-page layout.

Hope you enjoy and find many things to smile about in YOUR life!  :)

I never would have thought to stamp right onto the photo! Great idea. Your pages are wonderful. And I was happy to see I'm not the only one who can't see the table in my craft room.

I like the collage effect. The more we delve into the design time challenges, the more I notice that we don't really "need" any other kind of paper to create incredible memory pages! Your elements prove that to be true. Thanks so much.

Love the turkey - looks like he's standing watch over someone. The baby fox too cute! Like the travel stamping. I tried to do my page with things that make me smile and could not get it to work. Awesome job!

I LOVE the turkey!!! Look at him just struttin' around that cemetary! Your layout is gorgeous! Your kitties are adorable and I like the baby fox too. I never stamped on a photo before...I'll have to try that. Do they still make the Craft SU! ink? I used to be a demonstrator. I didn't think they still had it. I'll have to look. Great idea! Beautiful job!!

"It's the little things..." how very true! From the comforts that you enjoy to the nature that surrounds you! I like the idea of stamping right on the photo with the plane to fill up the sky. Beautiful daffodils and orchids!!

Yep, that's about how my craft room looks! :) I like that you included so many things that make you smile. Love the nature shots...

I am a little jealous that you have baby foxes in your yard! (Of course they would probably eat the rabbits that we enjoy watching in our yard.) And that photo of the turkey at the cemetary - wow!
