My World is Brown and Turning Upside Down

I'm not a fan of chaos.  You'd never know it to look at my craft room (or my bedroom for that matter). But what you see there is ORGANIZED CHAOS!  :)  To me, lack of chaos is knowing you can put your hands on anything you're looking for. To an outsider it may be a holy mess, but you know where things are!

Well, things are not in an organized chaos at our house right now. It's just chaos.  This is the first time in my life I've been handling a double-move - from one house to another. When we moved from Virginia Beach to Connecticut, my company handled our move and we had relocation specialists to help us. Now we're on our own AND we have to pay for it. Big difference!

In addition, even though we are paying the movers to pack us, my husband has it in his head that we have to pack up half the house.  Can you believe he has already packed half the stuff we're planning to take in the cars... and put it in the cars!?Including packing up half our food in the pantry. And did he label anything? NO! We're not leaving for another 3 weeks! I've been spending my time purging and organizing - putting like things together, so that WHEN we are packed, things will be hopefully findable! This is where different personalities come to light. I'm glad I have a sense of humor....

This layout is not one of my favorites. I like pretty layouts and I don't consider this one pretty, but it is definitely where my head is right now, which is a valuable thing to record!  Our challenge was to think of a color and take pictures of those things and journal what it made us think of.  Well, my world right now is surrounded by brown - brown boxes. And while, yes, I AM excited about the move and starting the next phase of our lives, I'm sad to be leaving the house we've been in for the past 15 years, and to be leaving the friends I've made here. I look out the window and think to myself that I'll never see that tree that blooms in the spring again. But there will be new trees, and a new house to decorate, and new friends. So this is a rather dull page, but hopefully in a few weeks you'll see wonderful COLORFUL pages from me about my new home!

I used one of the new circle tiles from Snap n Crop (I KNEW there was a reason I bought brown!!) and I also used the free download calendars. Too small to really read what happened each day, but you can see how busy we've been!

This is a great way to capture the feelings and chaos of a move!

I think your color choice is very nice and your page really tells the story of your life right now. How could that be bad? I can't believe you have the time to do the challenges and move at the same time. Your title is great. I love this page.

I found Lucky! This is a great layout and fully conveys story. Can't wait to how you chronicle the move into your new home.

Wow! Great layout on an icky subject...I hate to move too! Soon unpacking those brown boxes will turn that frown upside down and you'll be smilin again :) Can't wait to see what's next from you. Glad you are feeling up to posting!! Don't work too hard though.

Good luck in your new adventure! I agree with Tammy moving boxes are exciting they symbolize a new beginning. And Lucky just blends in perfectly on this page!

Nancy! You and I are in very similar situations right now! I, too, am dealing with realtors and mortgage people everyday trying to get things squared away for my new house on June 15th! It's absolutely exhausting, and there's still a chance there may be a problem with my closing date. So my life is in limbo at the moment as well, and I am surrounded by boxes!! At least your hubby is trying to be helpful! Don't be too hard on him! LOL! I love your page, and you're right...it's very good to scrap where you are right now, and I'm looking forward to seeing pages about your new place! Best of luck!! Great layout!

Moving boxes are exciting to me - it means a new adventure, and I like brown, but the chaos not good! I can understand the unsettled feeling of chaos. Hope your move goes well - can't wait to see the new home pages. :)

Wow Nancy! What a lot to do in such a short time. I hope you are up to the task and don't tire yourself out!! I totally understand organized chaos and how the overwhelming amount of brown boxes can get you down. But, you are right, it is good to document where you are in this stage of life, looking back and looking forward. Your use of the brown tiles, circle frame and brown ink help to pull it all together with a very warm feel. The calendars are great for grasping the time frame it all has to be done in, and yes, I see the kitty!

You are so right...it is important to document these types of things in our lives! And I totally get the brown...you'll see when you see my post! Not always the colors we'd like to use, but what is happening at the moment! I enjoyed the layout, the photos of your labels, tape (and the circle tile!), boxes, and calendars documenting it all. Very nice job! (and yes, I DO see you kitty...had to really look good though! :) )

By the way, can you find my cat, Lucky, peeking out in the picture in the middle? You have to really look!
