Challenge #3-2013 MMDT Ladies Day Out

"The best laid schemes o' mice an' men, Gang aft agley." ~Robert Burns

Yes, this Challenge was in the bag as you say. I long planned to document Isabella’s first birthday on February 1st. in this February challenge. Hannah was making a ladybug Birthday Cake and I was busy sewing dresses for her including a red dress with black dots to match her cake. I had the layout all planned and prepped, all it needed was the photos dropped in to the various spots. Then, I was knocked down by fever and chills and laid low for over a week. No party…no photos…no layout.

Slowly getting back on my feet, with only the remaining remnants of the snap, crackle, pop and wheeze every time I breathe to keep me at a slow pace, I began to rethink my challenge. Fortunately, I’d been shooting photos at our annual “Ladies Day Out” the previous weekend and I began to bring them together to fill in this Brick Grid and page pattern #37. For the challenge I have included a cornerstone date tile and the free download mini-calendars from www.snapncrop.com. In addition I used Tami’s rubber stamp set HS204 Circle Calendar from Impression Obsession, also available on www.snapncrop.com to fill in the blanks and months for my Title Block: “Ladies Day Out.” Bamboo Paper Tiles have also been included in this layout.

Here’s the journaling in the text block:

The holidays are over, the deep chill of winter has set in and the women at Pleasant Hill know how to make a mid-winter break something special.

The annual “Ladies Day Out” drew several from neighboring fellowships to enjoy the music of the Barrios family, a wonderful speaker Kathy Brand, six classes to choose from and a carry-in luncheon.

Everyone could chose three classes, and the choices for this year’s day out included soap making, bow making, bread making, card making, quick fixes and mixes and cake decorating.

Choices abounded at the luncheon that followed the day’s activities. Several crock pots of steaming soup to warm everyone up, along with sandwich choices and ample desserts to sweeten the days end.

A much needed respite while the winter winds howled. A wonderful day all around!

Dale, The "cake lady" is my daughter Hannah, the owner of Story Girl Cakes. (online and on FB) This was the first time she was doing the class for the fellowship and was very excited to do so. I suppose I should have disclosed that in my narrative!

Andrea %u2013 this layout is so beautiful. You really detailed the day by showing the lady icing the cake and the table full of goodies. The teapot photo is great. Love the ribbon with the blue and white flowers and the pearls. It looks like it was great fun.
