MMDT January Challenge #2: The FOOT Book!

Hello Everyone! Our second challenge was to create a layout inspired by a Dr. Seuss story!

It may seem strange that I chose The FOOT Book, but anyone who knows me knows that I think animal feet are funny. I often take photos of animals whose feet make me laugh, smile or go awwwwww.... and then most people think I'm weird. So I have this collection of pictures of feet just begging to be scrapbooked. And here's my big chance!

The other requirement for this challenge was to use 1” squares as a design element. As you can see, the colors I chose for this page were inspired by the colors on the book cover. I used Mango grid paper, Sun Yellow Paper Tiles (www.snapncrop.com) and Page Pattern #16 (www.tamilpotter.com) for both pages (mirrored, of course!). The cover itself stands in for a page title, and the font I used to print on the Paper Tiles was the closest I could find to the print in the book.

I used Tami’s trick for printing on Paper Tiles (http://tamipotter.typepad.com/how_do_i/2006/12/index.html) and it worked beautifully!

Here’s a close-up of pages 1 and 2 and some process shots:

Some scrapbooking friends and I go to Gotta-Scrap Inn in Manchester, MI every year for a long weekend of scrapping, shopping, eating, and spa services. The top photo shows that three of us were very happy with our pedicures!

Underneath this shot are three of my favorite dog feet: Peyton, with her dainty little rabbit feet, Risi, with her tufty Grinch-like feet, and Chloe, Risi’s best friend with her chunky little puppy feet.

The elephant and bear photos came from my annual trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo. The middle picture is a shot of the “Biggest foot contest” at the Dog Day in the Bay Parade in Williams Bay, WI. And the little stick leg on the bottom belongs to “Stretch,” a baby turkey with whom I made friends during my summer at the flower farm last year.

Picture of “Stretch” before I cut out his foot!

Paper Tiles before I decided to ink and journal on them.

I hope you enjoyed your visit and I’ll see you at the beginning of February for Challenge #3!!

This is great! I, too, have lots of feet photos. What a wonderful way to tie them all together.

Love everything about this layout - fun book choice, nice colors, and the printing on the paper tiles (must figure out how to do that...)! I'm not into feet, but have been accused of taking some very strange pictures.

Feet are neat! This is a great layout of a most unusual subject. I like the way you integrated the Dr. Seuss art with live shots. Your project makes me smile.

I'm glad you ladies like my layout! I had fun making it! Nancy!! I would love to see Cicero's feet! There was a photo I had ready to go for this layout, but the lighting wasn't great. It was of my friend Bev's cat Mitts. I think he and Cicero may be related! I'll have to email it to you!
