Painted Pumpkins

A few years ago, I realized that my youngest granddaughter (She is three years old) could only sit and watch all of us carve the Halloween pumpkin. We did not want her to get hurt, because we had to use sharp knives to do the art work on them.

It dawned on me, that everyone could have fun decorating the pumpkins, by using paints and it was a great idea. It started out with everyone having their own little pumpkin and a bowl of assorted paints resting in the center of the table for everyone to use. We served cookies and hot chocolate while we thought about what we wanted to paint on the pumpkin and the colors we wanted to use.

The results are always fun and some are amazing. Our days of pumpkin carving are long gone and the grandchildren always look forward to our pumpkin painting day.

Painting pumpkins has been catching on and you've got some clever faces on yours. It's a great way to involve the kiddos! and it's not quite as messy, too.
