2012 MMDT September Challenge #2: Grid Paper: Scarlet

Primary Colors

The Challenge this time was to work with a page pattern of all 1" squares. Our paper is Scarlet, a very nice shade of red (a little more to the orange side than purple shades of red.) That was a challenge to me, I tend to shy away from bold colors, but this whole year has been a series of occasions to break away from the 'same old same old' and embrace the new. One day soon, I won't be able to say "it's out of my comfort zone", Tami has seen to that!! 

Which photos to use? A page I've been thinking about was of one our favorite gardens to visit and as I looked the photos over I found a red that would 'match' and then some vivid blues and yellows, so I began to build around my "Primary Colors". I chose to print some at full 4x6 size, some at digital size 4x5.5 and some at half size 3x4. I thought the variety of sizes in the scenery and floral close-ups should bring dimension to the layout. I have absolutely no journaling and the title is only implied, with no additional embellishment, this is all about the photos!  It will be one of several pages as I have plenty photos "left over" and all the missing info you may think should be here can show up there..this is a piece just to view and enjoy. Although I began with the primary palette, the secondary colors of green, purple and orange show up in several shades.

The Spread:

When I look at everyone's layouts, I always want to see more of the details in their photos. I so enjoy seeing what is important to you to scrap. I'm always asking for more zoom, my eyes are very bad and it frustrates me not being able to see the details on the pages shared, and on a page like this there are a lot of details, so I'm posting my pages and then two shots to get a closer look.

There are so many plants that are unusual and I love the shapes and textures of some of the trees. The flowers are blooming from spring to fall and always have something to photograph. We usually try to visit it around 9:00 a.m. an hour before the museum opens and if we don't close the Museum out at 5 p.m. a quick run through with different light. 

I should mention, because one of the photos has a dinosaur sculpture in it with the three of my kids (Hannah, Andrew and Libby) that were able to make this trip a year ago, that this is The Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky, a few exits over from the Cincinnati Airport.  This is a wonderful place to visit and learn and I highly recommend it for your family.
